Fivetran Alternatives and Competitors: Boost Efficiency and Slash Costs

Summarize this blog post with:

Fivetran works well for teams that need to replicate many SaaS and database sources into a warehouse and are willing to pay for monthly active rows (MAR). It is not the right fit for every analytical workload. The MAR model is unpredictable on high-churn sources. Transformations live almost entirely in dbt. Dashboards and spreadsheets are not supported destinations. If your reporting job sits anywhere outside strict warehouse ingestion, there are better pipelines for your scenario and budget.

I reviewed eight Fivetran alternatives for teams running analytical pipelines in 2026. The shortlist focuses on tools that solve a defined workload: business reporting, log-based CDC, broad SaaS coverage, low-maintenance managed ELT, or data operations with code-based transformations. I use USD prices from each vendor’s public page and flag where plan limits actually bite.

Fivetran alternatives compared by analytical workload

The table below compares eight Fivetran alternatives on the facts that matter when you are choosing a pipeline: starting USD price, free trial or plan, source count, minimum refresh, CDC coverage, in-platform transformations, and AI capabilities. Fivetran sits in the first row for reference.

None of the eight is the right answer for every workload. If you want a single managed pipeline for business reporting into warehouses, dashboards, and spreadsheets with transparent per-account pricing, read the Coupler.io section first. If your job is high-volume replication with log-based CDC, jump to Airbyte, Hevo, or Estuary Flow. If a flat fee matters more than a per-row model, Integrate.io is the clearest Fivetran alternative in that bracket.

Coupler.io as a Fivetran alternative for business reporting

Coupler.io is a data integration platform and AI analytics solution built around a specific workload: moving business data from 400+ apps into the destinations analysts and business teams already use. That includes warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Supabase), dashboards (Data Studio, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, monday.com), spreadsheets (Google Sheets, Excel, CSV), and AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, Copilot, Perplexity, Custom MCP). Fivetran covers the warehouse side only. Where you need the same connected data to also land in a Google Sheets report or a Data Studio dashboard, Coupler.io owns a scenario Fivetran does not address.

Coupler.io analytical engine schema

Coupler.io includes Coupler AI: AI Agent + AI Integrations + Skills. The AI Agent is a conversational analytics assistant that runs calculations on your connected dataset through the Analytical Engine and explains the result. It is not a chat with a model that guesses. AI Integrations expose your data to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Cursor, Perplexity, OpenClaw, and custom MCP endpoints. Skills are reusable analyses you can apply or create. AI Insights is a separate dashboard-level add-on, not part of the Coupler AI umbrella.

Transformations cover both ends of the complexity scale. You get no-code column management, filtering, sorting, calculations, aggregations, and blending through append and join. You also get custom SQL transformations powered by DuckDB, which run on schedule as part of the flow. Fivetran leaves modeling to dbt in the warehouse. Coupler.io lets you prepare data in-flow and still run SQL where it fits.

Cost scenario: recurring business reporting

Consider a finance team that pulls Salesforce, HubSpot, and QuickBooks data into BigQuery for a weekly P&L report, with hourly refresh. Three source accounts, one warehouse destination, five users.

  • Coupler.io Pro: $199/mo billed annually. Covers 50 connected accounts, unlimited destinations, hourly refresh, unlimited users and rows. The workload sits well inside the plan with headroom to add more sources without an upgrade.
  • Fivetran Standard: Usage-based on MAR. See our Fivetran pricing breakdown for details. The vendor’s own example for a company this size shows four connectors totaling $511.15 per month in list prices, with annual contracts earning automatic discounts up to around 22%. A three-connector workload tracks lower, but still varies with monthly change rates on Salesforce and HubSpot.

The predictable total is Coupler.io’s advantage here. On Fivetran, a product release that increases record churn in HubSpot can push next month’s bill well above budget. On Coupler.io, the account count is what you buy and extras cost $4.49 per account on annual billing.

Fivetran vs Coupler.io: scope and cost factors

Fivetran is designed for warehouse-only ingestion at the engineering end of the stack. It merged with dbt Labs in June 2026, and the transformation path is dbt in the destination. If your team already runs dbt against BigQuery or Snowflake and the reporting layer is a separate BI tool, Fivetran is the natural choice at larger volumes.

Coupler.io fits a different job. The reporting destination can be the warehouse, but it can also be a Google Sheets report your finance team opens on Monday morning, a Data Studio dashboard shared with a client, or a Claude chat your analyst uses to investigate a drop in paid search spend. The 400+ source catalog covers business apps that Fivetran either does not support or treats as low-priority. The pricing is per connected account, not per row.

Where Fivetran is a better fit: strict warehouse ingestion at scale, 1-minute replication, hybrid or in-boundary deployment, and PCI DSS Level 1 on the Business Critical tier. For a comparison you can read in parallel, see Coupler.io vs Fivetran.

Airbyte

Airbyte is the open-source data movement platform built around a 700+ connector catalog. Four offerings exist: Airbyte Cloud Standard and Plus, Airbyte Cloud Pro, Airbyte Enterprise Flex for sovereign and hybrid deployments, and Airbyte Core as a self-hosted open-source build. The 2026 pivot toward AI agents added Airbyte Agents and the Context Store on top of the pipeline product.

Pricing uses credits, not rows or GB. Standard is $20/mo for 5 credits, with extra credits at $5 each. Plus starts at $189/mo for 40 credits and sells fixed packages up to $4,999/mo for 2,000 credits. Older third-party articles that quote GB-based Airbyte pricing are outdated.

Log-based CDC covers PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, and MongoDB. Field renaming is available on Plus and above. Custom mappings, row filtering, field hashing, and encryption are Pro features. Blending happens destination-side via dbt.

Hevo Data

Hevo is a no-code managed ELT platform with 150+ sources and a Free Forever tier up to 1 million events per month. Its differentiator is explicit data residency: customers select one of six regions at onboarding (Frankfurt, Mumbai, Oregon, Virginia, Singapore, Sydney). Few ELT vendors publish this.

Hevo Data interface

Pricing is event-based: Starter runs $299/mo for 5M events (monthly) or $265/mo billed annually. Tiers escalate to 20M and 50M events on Starter, and the Professional tier adds streaming pipelines starting at $849/mo. Hevo counts every insert, update, and delete in the destination, so high-churn CDC sources can push you into higher tiers quickly.

Transformations are a strength here. Hevo provides drag-and-drop pre-load blocks, Python code for pre-load logic, and dbt plus SQL via Hevo Transformer for post-load modeling. CDC covers Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, and SQL Server. Connect AI, Hevo’s AI connector builder, is announced for an October 22, 2026 webinar and is not yet GA.

Stitch

Stitch is a row-based warehouse ingestion tool now part of Qlik via Talend. The stitchdata.com homepage leads with “Stitch and Qlik. One Vision.” messaging, and legacy pages redirect to Qlik properties. Treat Stitch as a live product that is being folded into Qlik Talend Cloud.

Standard starts at $100/mo for 5 million rows, tiered up to 300M rows, with a single destination. Advanced costs $1,500/mo billed annually and allows 100M rows across 3 destinations. Premium costs $3,000/mo billed annually for 1B rows across 5 destinations. The catalog includes 130+ sources (154 entries, with 4 Enterprise sources gated to Advanced and above). HIPAA BAA is available only on Advanced and Premium.

Stitch does not transform in-flight. Modeling happens in the destination warehouse. The vendor publishes no AI features on stitchdata.com pages.

Estuary Flow

Estuary Flow is a real-time ELT and CDC platform designed for sub-second latency. Unlike batch-based solutions like Fivetran or Airbyte, Estuary runs streaming-first pipelines with multi-destination delivery.

Estuary Flow interface

Pricing has a nuance worth checking. Cloud is $0.50 per GB of data moved plus $100 per connector instance per month for the first six instances. From the seventh instance, the per-instance rate drops to $50 per month. The Developer tier is free for up to 10 GB per month with two concurrent connector instances. Enterprise moves to invoiced custom pricing and adds SSO, SOC 2 and HIPAA reports, custom SLA, and private or BYOC deployments.

Log-based CDC is Estuary’s core strength. Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, SQL Server, Oracle, and Db2 are supported through non-batch connector variants. Transformations are code-only: SQL, Python, and TypeScript derivations applied in flight. If you need no-code transformations, this is not the tool.

Agent Skills, launched in 2026, let Claude Code, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, and Gemini CLI build and run Estuary pipelines via SKILL.md plugins. ChatGPT is not on the list.

Integrate.io

Integrate.io (formerly Xplenty) sells a flat-fee ETL, ELT, CDC, and reverse ETL platform. The Core plan is $1,999/mo with unlimited data volumes, pipelines, and connectors, and 60-second pipeline frequency. The vendor emphasizes no row, pipeline, or connector caps. A 14-day free trial is available without a credit card.

Integrate.io interface

Advanced Security, HIPAA Healthcare Readiness, Team RBAC, and tailored support are add-ons without published prices. Helm is Integrate.io’s AI agent that drafts pipeline components, field mappings, and explanations from a prompt. The MCP server gives any MCP-compatible client governed read and write access to pipelines with the same audit trails as the UI. Named clients include Claude, Cursor, Codex, ChatGPT, and custom agents.

Skyvia

Skyvia is a Devart-built no-code cloud platform covering Data Integration, Backup, Query, Connect, and Automation as separate priced products. Each product has its own tiered plans with a Free tier. The Data Integration product scales from one-day minimum schedule on Free and Basic through 1-hour on Standard to 1-minute on Professional, with 200+ connectors.

Skyvia integration

Base dollar amounts for the Data Integration tiers are not published in a stable way on the pricing page (only overage rates render reliably: $0.06 per 1k records on Standard, $0.02 per 1k on Professional). Transformations include a visual Data Flow pipeline designer and Control Flow for error handling. Skyvia Connect added MCP endpoints in August 2025 so AI tools like Claude can query connected sources in natural language.

Keboola

Keboola is a data operations platform combining 1,500+ connectors (133 destinations), code-based transformations in SQL, Python, dbt, and R, orchestration via Flow Builder, and the Kai AI assistant. In 2026 the vendor repositioned around “AI-ready data foundation for finance.”

Keboola interface

Keboola’s public pricing page now shows only two tiers: Free and Enterprise. Older third-party content references Pay-as-you-go, Build, or Scale tiers that are no longer publicly listed. Free gives 120 compute minutes in month one, then 60 minutes per month, on an extra-small Snowflake backend with SQL and Python only. Extra minutes cost $0.14 each. The Change Data Capture product is priced separately: $0.17 per minute consumption, flat-rate contracts starting at $1,300 per month, plus $700 per month per replication slot.

Log-based CDC covers MySQL, Postgres, and MariaDB self-serve, with Oracle, MongoDB, SQL Server, and Cassandra on request. Kai builds connectors, transformations, pipelines, and dashboards from prompts with human approval before anything runs. The MCP server supports Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, VS Code, Make, n8n, and Windsurf. Keboola does not hold ISO 27001 itself; only its cloud providers do.

Migrating off Fivetran: a short checklist

  • Scope the actual workload. List the sources you use, the monthly change volume on each, and the destinations you deliver to. Many Fivetran bills shrink by half when a reporting team realizes the warehouse is not the only destination they need.
  • Test one connector end-to-end on the alternative. Pick the source with the highest churn. If the alternative handles it without surprise overage, the rest of the migration is predictable.
  • Confirm the destination schema. Fivetran’s naming conventions and dbt packages do not always port cleanly. If you rely on dbt packages for Salesforce or HubSpot, plan for either keeping those or rebuilding equivalent models in Coupler.io’s custom SQL, Airbyte’s dbt integration, or Hevo Transformer.
  • Compare total cost at your real scale, not at entry prices. Fivetran’s $0 Free tier and $20 Airbyte Standard do not reflect what a production workload costs.
